From Hanoi Railway Station (Ga Hà Nội), we took an overnight train and travelled 688km south to Hue, which offers a convenient and scenic journey through Vietnam's countryside, with comfortable soft sleeper cabins providing a restful night's sleep. Arriving in Hue the following morning, ready to explore the city's rich cultural heritage and historical landmarks. The train journey took about 13 hours. It's advisable to book tickets in advance, pack essentials such as toiletries and snacks, and secure valuables while onboard for a smooth and enjoyable journey.

Overall, I was enchanted by Hue's rich history, vibrant culture, and unparalleled beauty. But it was not just the landmarks and attractions that left a lasting impression; it was the warmth and hospitality of the people, the tantalising flavours of the local cuisine and the sense of tranquility that spread through the air. In Hue, time seemed to slow down, allowing me to get lost in myself fully in the sights, sounds and sensations of this remarkable place. Until we meet again, Hue, thank you for the memories.
Next Stop: Hoi An
Setting off from Hue, the ancient imperial capital, our adventure began with a train ride that promises unparalleled views as we traversed the legendary Hai Van Pass, known as the "Ocean Clouds Pass", this iconic route offers panoramic vistas of the azure sea blending seamlessly with mist-shrouded mountains, a poetic fusion of earth and sky that leaves you spellbound.
Arriving in Da Nang Railway Station, the vibrant coastal city welcomes you with open arms, offering a tantalising blend of modernity and tradition. The train journey took about 2.5 hours. But the adventure doesn't end here. Continued with a scenic bus ride from Da Nang to Hoi An took us on a journey through lush countryside and quaint villages, where time-honoured traditions and simple pleasures await around every corner. The bus journey took about 1 hour.
