Lewin Terrace: Dining In The Lush Greenery, Singapore

"By the way, welcome back", one of the waiters whispered to us after taking down our order. Not frequently, perhaps once a year and we were back in the Lewin Terrace again for our second wedding anniversary celebration. And every time, I feel so blissful to step into Lewin Terrace; escape from the bustling city for a couple of hours, indulge in the fine dining experience, unwind in a relaxed atmosphere and also to see the familiar faces of the L.T. Team.

Perched on a peaceful location at Fort Canning Hill, Lewin Terrace is a destination restaurant serving Japanese-French fusion fine dining cuisine with an excellent Japanese hospitality. One thing I'm amazed by Lewin Terrace is they always deliver unexpected, fresh and innovative menu regularly; and during our visit, they had rolled out the Ichigo Delight Strawberry Dessert Buffet, featuring a wide range of desserts made from the tasty premium Chitose strawberries.

As per usual, we were served with a bag of bread and the signature Yuzu butter as a starter. The freshly baked bread was soft, fluffy and the hot pebbles in the bag keep the bread warm throughout. The harmony of the tangy Yuzu and the lightly salted butter was truly remarkable, it simply defines the taste of Japanese-French fusion cuisine.

Our 3-course lunch started off with LES ENTRÉEs:

1. Cured Salmon | Soba Blinis | Salad (サーモンマリネ / そば粉のブリニ / 季節野菜のサラダ)
The cured Salmon was rolled into a cone shape and filled with Salmon roe like some pearls hiding inside the shells. The Soba Blinis made from buckwheat flour to go along with the cured Salmon proved to be classic, and the salad dish would never be completed without a spoonful of soured cream.

2. Pumpkin Soup | Soy Crumble (パンプキンスープ しょうゆクランブル)
The plate of pumpkin soup was golden-yellow in color, sprinkled with some soy crumbles and fresh herbs; and the dish was finished off perfectly with a drizzle of olive oil. The soup was cooked to a precise thickness and vibrant both in color and taste.

Next, LE MAIN, also the main course of the set lunch.

1. Seabass / Lobster Bisque / Cauliflower / Sautéed Seasonal Vegetables (鱸のロースト/ビスクソース/カリフラワーピューレ/季節野菜のソテー)
The Seabass was pan-fried to a beautiful crisp brown color, together with the Freekeh rested by a pool of smooth and creamy lobster Bisque. The Sautéed seasonal vegetables on top of the fish tasted naturally sweet and the cauliflower was turned into puree as the dots of art on the plate.

2. Roast Duck / Red Wine Spice Sauce / Porcini Confit / Celery Root (ローストダック/赤ワインスパイスソース/セップ茸のコンフィ/セロリのピューレ)
The roast duck was plump and fleshy to a right degree, the cuts of meat was beautifully tender and juicy, and it tasted even better when paired with the sweet red wine spice sauce. The Porcini Confit on the meat added a punch to the dish without being overwhelmed. The celery root is not the prettiest vegetables, but when pureed, it turned out to be a miraculous earthy side dish that nobody should ignore.

Lastly, LE DESSERT, the dessert of the day.

1. Strawberry Blancmange
Blancmange, one each for both of us, the classic French dessert was served in a cocktail glass together with the tasty premium Chitose strawberries and blueberries.

2. Strawberry Tart
We also got a slice of strawberry tart served on a long dessert plate with the words "Happy Anniversary" written on it. Well-thought by the dessert chef who didn't make the tart too sweet as the sweetness can be easily drawn from the succulent Chitose Strawberries.

Again, we had a memorable meal at Lewin Terrace; amazing food, lovely people and beautiful place. We are looking forward to our next visit and taste on their ever changing menu! If you are seeking to dine in a place with a relaxed and romantic ambience, then Lewin Terrace is highly recommended, it's a dining and travel destination that you shouldn't miss!
